State police arrested a Wayne Township man Thursday after he was accused of the sexual abuse of three children dating back to 1983.

Jeffrey Delmont Hillberry, 71, faces charges in three separate cases. In one case police charged him with felonies of rape of a person less than 13 years old, statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault.

The charges stem from a report by the alleged victim who told investigators that in 2002 Hillberry raped her multiple times in the detached garage of his home in the 100 block of Freedom Street when she would have been between the ages of 8 and 10.

According to the criminal complaint, she provided medical records that showed she began to exhibit behavioral issues in school following the alleged assaults.

In a second case, police alleged Hillberry sexually assaulted an 8 to 10 year old girl on his property in 1996. For this alleged incident he faces felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.

Hillberry is charged by police with misdemeanors of indecent assault and corruption of minors in a third case.

According to charging documents, the victim told investigators her first clear memory of Hillberry touching her inappropriately was when she was 11 years old in 1983.

Greene County District Attorney Brianna Vanata did not return a phone call seeking additional comment on the charges against Hillberry.

Hillberry was arraigned Thursday night before District Judge Lee Watson, who sent him to the Greene County jail on $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 26.
