PennWest at California holding commencement ceremonies Saturday

PennWest University is holding its annual spring commencement ceremonies Saturday as more than 1,800 students are expected to graduate from its three campuses in Western Pennsylvania, including in California.

The morning and afternoon ceremonies at the PennWest’s campuses in California, Clarion and Edinboro will recognize undergraduate, graduate and doctoral candidate students, along with those studying through online programs.

In California, commencement will be held at the Convocation Center. The early ceremony at 10 a.m. will recognize graduates from the College of Health Sciences and Human Services, while the afternoon ceremony at 2:30 p.m. will celebrate grads from the College of Education, Arts and Humanities and the Eberly College of Science, Technology and Business.

Dr. James Fisher, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, will deliver greetings on behalf of the president and confer degrees during both ceremonies. PennWest Trustee Barry Niccolai will offer the greeting on behalf of the Council of Trustees during the morning ceremony. Cal student trustee Tyrique Whitson will offer greetings during the afternoon ceremony.

Criminal justice major Jordan Wiedman will deliver the student address during the morning ceremony while fellow criminal justice major Caitlyn Egan will serve as student speaker in the afternoon.

Similar morning and afternoon ceremonies will be held at Tippin Gymnasium in Clarion and McComb Fieldhouse in Edinboro.
