John Rucci
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Rucci, a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully at the age of 88, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, due to natural causes.
John, a native of Daisytown, was born on June 25, 1937, a son of Pietro and Dominica (Bianchini) Rucci and spent much of his life dedicated to his work as a steelworker at J&L Steel, where he played his part in the booming steel industry.
John proudly served our country in the United States Army, serving in Korea from 1955 until 1957.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, J.D. Rucci and two sisters, Louise Rudy and Zita Bodzer.
John was a hardworking man who never shied away from putting in a tough day’s work. He raised three sons: J.D., Dino and Scott.
Left to cherish memory are his two grandchildren, Lauren Gagatko and her husband, Jeff, and Eric Rucci and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Charlotte Gagatko. He treasured the time spent with his family who brought immense joy to his life.
He also leaves behind three nephews: Rocky Bodzer, Larry Bodzer and Robert Rudy; one niece, Diana Hopfinger; his care giver, Cathy Gehron; and the mother of his children, Gail Hook.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 26, in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA 15419.
A blessing service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, in the funeral home with Deacon Al Poroda officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, located at 97 Sacred Heart Road, Monongahela, PA 15063.
John Rucci will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those around him. We invite all those who knew him to join us in celebrating his life and honoring his memory.
