Nancy Louise Rankin Barati, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was born on November 23, 1947, in Allison, the daughter of Charles and Nellie Mattie Rankin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Barati; grandson, Christopher Floyd Jr; son-in-law, Christopher Floyd Sr; and siblings: John Rankin, Ted Rankin and Margaret (Sue) Rankin.
Upon graduating from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy with a full scholarship, Nancy began her professional journey as the proprietor of Nancy’s Beauty Salon in Belle Vernon.
She was married to David J. Barati for 42 years until his passing in 2013. They began their future as operator/owner of Barati Mobile Home Park. Together, they raised Angela, David and Anthony, instilling the values of honesty and hard work. After residing in Arizona for several years, the family relocated back to southwestern Pennsylvania.
Nancy built meaningful friendships through her children’s accomplishments and was an active participant in many groups, such as Brownsville Catholic & Holy Rosary youth activities, Geibel Sports, Brownsville Band Boosters, Fayette County Head Start, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Brownsville youth basketball and football. She spent many summers serving as an officer with Brownsville Youth Baseball.
Her kindness and devotion to the Lord will be fondly remembered by her childhood friends, classmates from the Brashear class of 1965, and her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Angela (Jake) Wright, David Barati, Anthony (Cindy) Barati; grandchildren, who brought her both purpose and happiness: Christian Floyd Sr., Julius Barati, Elijah Barati, and Asher Barati of Fayette County; Joseph David Barati (mother: Janet) resides in San Antonio, Texas, where Nancy spent several months each year; great-grandchildren: Christian Floyd Jr., Chance Floyd and Calionna Floyd (mother: Ruby); godchildren: Keith Fagioletti, Anthony Popiesh, Donald Murray, Justin Smitley, Sueanne Rankin, and Nicole Smitley, and siblings: Loretta Rankin, Chuck Rankin and Joe Rankin.
Nancy’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 9, in The KISH-FABRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 19 Legion Street, Republic, where Prayers of Transfer will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. Friday, April 10, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hiller.
