Frederick Michael “Buzzy” Bartock, 67, of Smithfield, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in his home, with his loving wife of 30 years, Brenda, at his side. He was born June16, 1958, in Uniontown.
Before retiring, Buzzy was employed as a coal miner for 32 years. He was a member of UMWA and Teamsters Union Local #491, Uniontown.
Buzzy was a star athlete at Laurel Highlands Senior High School. His number on the football team was #61, and he was also voted team captain. In 1976 he was named to the All-County Football Team and the WPIAL AAA All Star Football Team. One of Buzzy’s most memorable experiences during hisfootball career was that he had the extreme pleasure of playing against Joe Montana. Along with hisfootball career, he lettered in the following sports: Track & Field, and Basketball. In the summers, he played baseball for Continental #2, Uniontown.
Buzzy enjoyed many different things: hunting, fishing, and being an avid Steelers football fan. Most of all, Buzzy enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and his beautiful great- granddaughter, Aspen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. and mother, Viola Carbonara Bartock; and brother, Joseph Bartock.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda Barton Bartock; his sisters, RoseAnn (John) Sloboda, Patty (Paul) Thomas, Caroline (Rennie) Heavener; his brother, Michael (Susan) Bartock;his special sister-in-law, Linda Vignali Bartock; stepchildren, Loribeth Stewart, Danielle (Brendon) Steele, and Dennis Ferree (Buzzy was his dedicated caretaker); grandchildren, Maeanna Cooley (Nathan) Fulmer, Saydie Steele, Mia Steele; his beloved great- granddaughter, Aspen “Asp” Fulmer, whomhe adored; nieces and nephews, Richard Johns, Santino Sloboda, Marissa Brooks, Eric Bartock, Mark Bartock, Joey Thomas, Sherri Bartock, Justin Bartock, and Kristin Mazzone.
Buzzy was a member of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown.
