Richard Lee Martelli, Sr.

It is with great sadness and humble acceptance of God’s Will, that the family of Richard L. Martelli, Sr. announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with his loving son and daughter-in-law by his side.
He was born on November 25, 1940 in Uniontown, the son of the late Pete and Susan Stapinski Martelli.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta “Sissy” Martelli; granddaughter, Savannah Martelli Stimmell; brothers: Johnny, Joe and Bill Martelli; and sisters: Ann Trifiro, Rita Martelli, Mary Ezzi and Rose Kochis.
Richard was a lifetime coal miner, working at local mines such as Robena and Dilworth until his retirement in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the Amend Gun Club and a UMWA member.
For the last several years, Richard lived in Belton, Texas with his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Shannon, and Jasper, his faithful canine companion; enjoying family, nature and feeding the deer who were like pets to him. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with family.
He is survived by his best friend and son, Richard and his wife, Shannon; bonus granddaughters, Terra and Angela Howell; five great-granddaughters: Kayleigh Orr, Emma and Ayvah Powell, and Davina and Camille Stimmell; brothers, Stanley Martelli and Sam Martelli (Leslie); and sisters, Joann Kuritz (Daniel) and Linda Christopher (Gary); as well as several nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, where family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Wednesday, April 22, with Pastor Mark Burkshire officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
