Sherry Eberhart Appleton, 62, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 24, 1963, to George and Shirley Eberhart.

Sherry was a 1982 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and Fayette County Vo-Tech, where she studied photography.

Sherry was a faithful member of McClellandtown Free Methodist Church for many years.

She was extremely dedicated to her family, never missing an event no matter how big or small. Sherry had an immense love of movies and music, which she never hesitated to share. Her DVD collection was second to none. She was an avid Steelers’ Fan, cheering them on win or lose. Sherry had an incredible sense of humor and the amazing ability to always stay positive despite any obstacle.

Sherry is survived by her children, Kriston Kovach (Joe), and Jason Appleton (Kasie); her grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew, Alyssa, and Cole; her mother, Shirley Eberhart; her brothers, George Everhart (Ginny), Wesley Eberhart (Tracey), and Joseph Eberhart (Tina); and her favorite uncle who named her, Jim Guthrie (Carole).

She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Raymond and Margret Eberhart, and James and Ida Mae Guthrie; father, George Eberhart; brother, Jeffrey Eberhart; and nephew, Brandon Eberhart.

The family will receive visitors in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 26, and from 10 until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, with Pastors George and Ginny Eberhart officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva.
