Gregory Michael Myrga, 61, of Newell, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born August 3, 1964, in Newell, a son of Myron Myrga Sr. and Barbara Albert Myrga.
Gregory was a lifelong Roman Catholic. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, later returned to St. Sebastian Church, and most recently attended St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. He served the church as an altar server, lector, CCD instructor and Eucharistic minister.
He pursued education beyond high school and worked in fields related to his studies until a genetic disability limited his ability to continue working. He never married and had no children. He was devoted to his dogs, Pooh Bear and Bree, and enjoyed researching his family ancestry and was proud of his Russian and English heritage.
Surviving are his mother, Barbara Myrga of Newell; a brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Terri Myrga; a nephew, Dr. John Myrga and his wife, Katie; a niece, Dr. Amanda Myrga and her fiance, Alex Kopcho; an aunt, Marcy Scaramucci; an uncle and aunt, Tom and Judy Albert; and several cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Myron Myrga Sr.; a brother, Wayne Myrga; his paternal grandparents, Metro and Mary Myrga; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Albert; and an uncle, Lewis Scaramucci.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
