Lois Jean Saletrik

Uniontown

Lois Jean Saletrik, 83, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully into eternal life Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after a years-long battle with cancer. Born May 30, 1942, in Continental #3, she was the daughter of James and Beatrice Schreck Brooks.

In 1967, Lois met the love of her life, Elmer George Saletrik, while waiting tables at the former Dog House Restaurant in Uniontown. They were married October 14, 1967, and spent nearly 43 years together until his death in 2010.

Lois worked various jobs in her earlier years but found the job she absolutely loved later in life when she became a school van driver for M&R Transportation. She loved “her kids” and their families, and they all loved Miss Lois.

She was also actively involved for many years in the North Union Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Lois found immense strength in her Catholic Faith. She was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Uniontown, for many years, and before that, at St. Joan of Arc in Farmington, where she served as an extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She was always so appreciative for the many prayer lists she was on (especially all the wonderful people of St. Regis Parish in Trafford) during her years battling cancer. All those prayers kept her in good spirits; her sons heard so many wonderful doctors, nurses and other caregivers, during hospital stay and chemo and radiation sessions, say, “How wonderful your mom is.”

Lois’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Peracha and the entire staff at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support throughout her illness and to the staff at Terrace Health & Rehabilitation, who took such good care of her in the final months.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and John “Jack” Hall, and Shirley and Donald Hall.

Lois is survived by her loving sons, the Rev. E. George Saletrik of Latrobe and Paul K. Saletrik of Uniontown; her grandsons, Dylan (Karen) Costello and Austin Saletrik; her great-grandsons, Lucca and Camden; her sisters, Flora Campbell and Linda (William) Arnold; a special cousin-in-law, Getrude Ann Yeaho; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 9. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, from 10 until prayers of transfer at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, celebrated by her son, Fr. George Saletrik and concelebrated by priests of the Diocese of Greensburg, with the Most Rev. Larry J. Kulick, JCL, in attendance.

Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery.
