Dorothy Lou Gilleland, 96, of Point Marion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Dorothy was a longtime and active member of the Point Marion United Methodist Church. Her family and her home were her greatest pride. In her later years, as her health declined, she especially enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards with family and friends.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Holbert “Bert” Gilleland; a son, Samuel David Davis; parents, Sarah Kennedy Davis and Ferdinand Davis; two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas Davis of Cape Coral, Fla.; four children, Diana Lynn Gilleland (Randy Renaldo) of Morgantown, W.Va., Timothy Earl Gilleland (Joy) of Independence, W.Va., Dawn Lee King (Michael) of Smithfield, and Gregg Gilleland (Emily) of Point Marion. Also, six grandchildren, Jeremy Gilleland, Jennifer Tkacik (Michael), Christopher King (Melanie), Canaan Gilleland, Alexandria Gilleland, and Logan Gilleland; three great-grandchildren, Elijah King, Taran Hufnagel, and Isaac King; along with many nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion.
