Stephen Louis Skala, 82, of McClellandtown, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at his residence.
He was born in High House, on August 29, 1943, the son of the late Ralph and Mary Provaznik Skala.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers and sisters: Paul, Ann, Andrew, Johnny, Lou, Margaret, Pauline, Joe, Marchie and Ralph. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by an abundant number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Stephen served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War and earned the following medals: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal and 1 O/S Bar.
Before retiring he was employed as a Metal Fabricator at Fruehauf Uniontown, and spent his life devoted to his farm and horsemanship.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown, and former member of St. Mary’s Church, Leckrone, and a member of American Legion Post 423.
Friends will be received in the John S. Maykuth, Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11. Thursday at 9:30 a.m., Prayers of Transfer will be held, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown. Military Rites will be accorded at the funeral home by Masontown American Legion Post 423 and the Masontown VFW Post 4584 at 6 p.m. Wednesday March 18. Private Interment.
