Dolores Moravitz, Antonacci
Dry Tavern
Dolores Moravitz, Antonacci, 90, of Dry Tavern, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 9 after a long battle with dementia.
Dolores married young, at just 16 years old in 1952, to her husband John. Together they welcomed one son, Lance, in 1957. Dolores was a tried and true farmstead wife. While John worked outside the home, she could be found canning, tending the garden and animals, cooking and baking, hanging clothes on the line, making hay, taking care of the family – running the household and the land with a diligent hand. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, watching the birds, and horseback riding.
In 1969, John started his own business, Tri-County Carpet, a carpet and flooring provider, where Dolores ran the books, handled the sales, and was the face of the business until 1982 when they both retired. Through a lifetime of hard work, John and Dolores were able to travel extensively, taking trips to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and John’s home country of Italy. They also travelled locally, most often in search of the best fresh peaches, first with their son in tow, and then their granddaughters.
In her later years, Dolores enjoyed visiting with friends, teaching her granddaughter to ride horses, and hosting Sunday family dinners. At the holidays, an array of homemade cookies could always be found.
She is preceded in death by husband John and two infant daughters, Cynthia and Karen. Dolores is survived by son Lance, and granddaughters Micalyn and Kellyn.
Dolores will be cremated and her ashes spread on the family farm in a private ceremony.
