Country headed in wrong direction
No society can long survive that allows the basic truths of its foundation to be changed to suit a small, misguided segment of the population. This is what is happening in America.
Over 50 years ago, the Bible and prayer were removed from public schools and government. Shortly thereafter came a law that has destroyed the maternal instincts of countless women who now believe they have a right to kill their unborn babies for their own convenience. And we now have a law that accepts a deviant lifestyle as marriage.
Although many try to deny it, our country was indisputably founded as a Christian nation on the precepts of Jesus Christ. One of the Ten Commandments is: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” But America has a “god” who has been permitted to come before the true God.
President Barack Obama is a strong supporter of abortion and same-sex marriage and has made lying to the public an acceptable standard. All this is in direct opposition to God. He violates the Constitution with little objection from those who are descendants of the brave men who prayed on their knees for its inspiration. Are there any sacred standards that cannot now be uprooted and redefined?
Biblical morals have been stolen by the government over the years and counterfeited as “political” issues. The IRS sends letters to pastors every year threatening their tax-exempt status if they talk about these so-called “political” issues from the pulpit. Many are needlessly intimidated by these false threats and no longer enlighten their congregations as to God’s standards of right and wrong and the sins that are destroying our society and our country.
Though our president piously ends his speeches with “God bless America,” his actions speak much louder than his words. The Bible has promised that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,” but in America, His laws have been trampled underfoot.
Our leaders and consequently much of our country have forgotten the One who made this nation great. If only we could have a revival of the common sense that told our founders that a nation cannot survive without God and morality! Then righteous leaders would be elected, churches would once again courageously proclaim God’s laws, and Christians would rise up in mighty opposition to the evil that threatens our land.
