Cosby criticized
It is a good day for the corps of women who have accused comedian Bill Cosby of having engaged in sexual activity with them either by force or through drugging them.
Mr. Cosby’s attorney fought the release of his client’s 2005 deposition on the ludicrous grounds that it would prove to be “embarrassing” and we now learn that it contains admissions from the perpetrator that he gave Quaaludes to young women with the intent of having sex with them. I am not sure that this smoking gun would embarrass a man with no shame, someone who sought to tar his many accusers as golddiggers whose accusations were without merit.
The collapse of Bill Cosby is a tragedy for those who rightfully saw him as a groundbreaking talent in many respects, those who believed that he was a wholesome individual, and those who admired his preaching to individuals as to how they can build a life of success through acting intelligently and responsible. He will now be known not much as a pioneer or television and comedy, but as a fraud who took shameful advantage of young women whom he saw as sex objects who were ripe for abuse by a “star.” He could easily convince any of those whom he used that no one would believe their accusations if they were to pursue him legally or to go public with what he had done to them. Thankfully, right has triumphed over might.
Who would want to contribute one more dime to the Cosby empire by seeing him in performance now?
