Rioters ripped
Civilized, law-abiding citizens helplesssly look on with horror as the city of Baltimore disintegrated at the hands of what its African-American mayor properly and courageously characterized as “thugs.”
The late, great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would surely recoil over the notion that the means for some to adderss legitimate grievances in 2015 is to assemble a riot: to vandalize a pharmacy, to steal liquor, to burn a center for seniors, or that all police officers who respond to the scene of chaos should be targeted with rocks and bottles thrown at them.
Those who seek to destroy are not protesters, but criminals. Our pitiable law enforcement officers, most of whom selected their profession for the right reasons, must use all reasonable means to restore order. Who would want to serve in their thankless role for any amount of money?
Any notion of national cohesiveness and racial harmony has been set back by the destruction of a major American city. Those who brought it about should have plenty of time to contemplate what they have perpetrated as they sit in jail.
