Boxing blasted
Societal decline is evident in many facets of our lives. One of the most recent cases in point is the much-celebrated Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao boxing match.
Mayweather, the man with a lengthy history of domestic abuse is glorified as he wins the bout. He received a $100 million prize bestowed upon him, and he shows off the check to his fans. What class he showed. Any woman who would have anything to do with him, given what is known about the way he treats members of the opposite sex, is someone who is undeserving of sympathy.
Boxing is legalized savagery, a “sport” in which the goal is to pulverize and cause one’s opponent to lose consciousness in order to “win.” One should take a good look at the sad state of former champion boxer Muhammad Ali in order to understand the lasting effects of repeated blows to the head.
When we wish to understand how it is that violence infests our culture, look at the voyeuristic lust for boxing as one clue.
