Uniontown missed out on Big Mac musuem

1 min read

Fayette County, mostly Uniontown, missed out on a opportunity to have a great tourist attraction in letting the original McDonald’s at the Uniontown Shopping Center be demolished.

That McDonald’s was the birthplace of the Big Mac.

I wonder how much effort was put forth to recognize Mr. Delligatti since his inventing of the Big Mac in Uniontown.

I may be wrong, but I don’t remember him being honored in this area, for his accomplishment as others have been for theirs.

I also wondered, if this might all have been the reason why the Big Mac Museum was being built in North Huntingdon Township and not in Uniontown where it was invented and first sold?

I hope I’m wrong in assuming that it was the leaders in Uniontown’s lack of vision that caused this to happen. Perhaps this newspaper can dig into their archives to tell the true story or someone else can shed a light on it.

I’m sure others, than myself, would be interested in knowing even though we can’t remake history.
