New sheriff in town

By Oren Spiegler 2 min read

The recent behavior of Donald Trump makes it quite clear that there is a new sheriff in town, his recently engaged campaign manager Kellyanne Conway. I attribute to her his new postures and the modicum of civility he has come to display.

Look at what has happened since Ms Conway took the reins of the campaign:

– Trump wished his opponent well as she recovers from illness and did not refer to her as “Crooked” in his statement;

– He has hatched a plan to provide benefits to new mothers and those who utilize child care. I suppose this is ideally targeted to women other than those he considers to be “disgusting pigs”;

– He has been more restrained in statements and has not encouraged assaults against any protesters;

– He picked up a baby and appeared to like it rather than to direct that someone should “get the baby out of here;

– He has acknowledged reality and admitted that his racist slander against Barack Obama regarding where he was born was without foundation, this after years of entertaining this delusion.

Will his last-minute conversions fool any voters who had been sitting on the fence? Let us hope not.
