Why shouldn’t US try to get along with Russia?

By Ed Rinkhoff 3 min read

For some time I’ve been wanting to say something in regards to the so-called Russian hacking in advance of our presidential election of 2016.

I’ll accept the fact that there probably was some, but how could it have affected the paper ballots or the voting machines when genuine citizens (I hope) cast their votes? Regardless of who anyone voted for, their minds were made up (in most cases) long before they entered the polls. Also, this hacking and espionage has gone on for a very long time in both directions.

A recent column by Bill Horne was a one-sided presentation. He cites Poland in 1939 as good reason to mistrust. Did Mr. Horne ever think about our two wars with England, two wars with Germany, our greatest influx of immigrants and only two votes by our founding fathers as to which was going to be our official language, German or English? One war with France, one war with Spain, one war with Mexico, on war with Japan, one war with North Korea, and the saddest, our Native American conflicts. All the wars we’ve had involved a sometimes great percentage of American’s nationalities at war with their mother countries.

The bottom line after spending ourselves broke killing each other is we forge new alliances, friendships and help them to rebuild. So my point is we have much in common with Russia in our genealogy, our similar temperate climate, and that we both possess great natural resources. Technologically we are a match, especially in space exploration and modern defense. How many space missions have or have had Russian counterparts with our people? Does this suggest an enemy?

My bottom line is we need to be friends with Russia, not confrontational, and give President Trump some space to deal with Vladimir Putin and company. We ought to be glad we have a president with global contacts and experience. He thinks big and I’d bet any deal he makes with foreign governments will be fair to both countries and not put America on the short end.

Among some of the loudmouth Democrats exist some strong degree of jealousy because of Trump’s triumphs. Also, there are liberals who believe it’s their way or the highway. After this Russian hacking thing plays out, there will be some other nitpicks to not just try to sink President Trump, but set the stage to hopefully retake the presidency in 2020.

Therefore, their first line of attack is to discredit President Trump, his cabinet choices, his Supreme Court choices and his decisions. Even if he doubled the money for liberal perks of every aspect, they would still find fault. After un-American slander and foot-dragging to damage Trump’s administration, they’re already marshalling to street freeloaders; the wave of illegal immigrants who in most cases, lack the guts our founding fathers had to break the unfair hold England had on the colonists.

The majority of our colonists (our founding fathers) pledged their fortunes, their lives and their sacred honor to the revolution and successive additional waves of European immigrants came to America with only a hope – none of today’s perks that are offered to today’s immigrants who in reality, are freeloaders compared to the immigrants who built this country. Many don’t really love our American ways, but rather want their own little enclaves clinging to traditions they fled!
