Commentary about Trump crosses the line
I usually read the daily commentaries in the newspaper, agree or disagree, and move on. However, the commentaries from self-righteous Christians telling us about God’s will, cross the line, and I guess the latest one in on Feb. 7 was one too many, so I am responding.
So God’s will was made known on Nov. 8, and Trump won the election? So many people are saying this, they say give Trump a chance, and bring up Bible stories, like David and Goliath. You can find a story to fit your beliefs for any occasion in the Bible. Here’s one that fits my beliefs. The Good Samaritan. You know the gist of it, but go and read it again. It really fits in with current events too. Spoiler alert, it will not tie in with anything Trump.
I have always believed that God saw how badly we were mucking everything up, even with the Old Testament, and he sent Jesus to us, to show us how we are to live and act toward our fellow man. So my day-to-day living is based on Christ’s words and teachings, you know, things like, “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world”, and though I continue to fail him and myself, I keep trying.
Here’s a question for those saying God’s will was made known 11/8. When did God start working off of our calendar? I was taught that we follow his timeline and I think it’s very arrogant and even sinful for people (clergymen included) to make such proclamations.
So it was God’s will, as of Nov 8. Let’s look at that. First though, we must acknowledge that a belief in God is also a belief that Satan exists. We must also believe in the seven deadly sins, they are the devil’s handbook so to speak, as follows: pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth. On the opposite end of the spectrum are the seven heavenly virtues: faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance and prudence.
So, it’s 2015 and America is in such bad shape, God decides to send us a mortal “savior” to be our next president, and make America great again. What type of man would He choose? A righteous man who has heavenly virtues of faith, hope and charity or someone like Trump proven guilty of all seven deadly sins? Continuing this line of thought, it could be said that the appearance of Trump in politics, a man guilty of all the deadly sins, possessing none of the heavenly virtues, and his subsequent election using the fear tactic (another Satanic tool), was a big win for Satan, and not God’s will at all. Consider Trump’s Chief Strategist choice, neo-Nazi Steve Bannon. Does he seem a likely choice for a man chosen by our Lord?
So here we are. I’m only one of the millions of people, not only in America, but around the world who are compelled to continue to fight Trump’s greed-based agenda, that is designed to dismantle our democracy. Perhaps God is working through us, urging us to continue the fight with unwavering fortitude, and so, “I too believe that God is in control of everything.”
As for your suggestion, no, we will not move away from our homes and country. Instead we will continue the fight for our great democracy, whose protections embody the heavenly virtues, even though our existence makes you uncomfortable and you are getting tired of hearing us. And for any American to say those words to other Americans defending their constitution, it is not only unpatriotic, but unchristian, and shameful.
