Legalizing marijuana is a very bad idea
As I remember, the top story for the last couple of weeks was the horror of heroin and opioid addiction and the personal stories of families affected.
This week’s top story seems to be the legalizing of another narcotic, marijuana, for tax-raising purposes. The state auditor general, of all people, pushing for it. This man should find another job.
Years ago, politicians begged us to vote for legalizing gambling. Money raised would lower our property and school taxes. How’s that working for us?
If anyone thinks that taxing marijuana will pay off the state deficit, you’re living in a fairy tale world. I have an extensive background in law enforcement and 10 years alone in drug enforcement.
I called the office of state Sen. Pat Stefano, R-Bullskin Township, to discuss some issues. Talking to one of his aides, I was told the senator is against legalizing marijuana.
Work harder and longer to find another way to raise money. I do believe our one-time governor would approve any bill to tax anything.
I can only pray that this issue is rejected.
