Shuster wrong about health care bill
Having read U.S. Rep Bill Shuster’s commentary in last Sunday’s Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ I have to respond.
In his opinion, everyone will have better coverage, with less out of pocket cost, no one will lose coverage, and somehow it will cost the government less. He assures that there will be more insurance companies offering affordable policies. It will be better for small businesses, individuals, insurance companies and taxpayers.
I saw nothing in the American Health Care bill regarding a decrease in health care or medication costs, so how can everyone be getting the same care with the same coverage for the same premiums and it cost the government, employers insurance companies less. The math just isn’t there!
Again, Rep Shuster stated that ACA/Obamacare was failing miserably and pointed out how many insurance companies have pulled out. He failed to mention that in 2015, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., introduced a bill that passed. This bill reduced ACA reimbursement to insurance, companies to 13 percent of the agreed amount for coverage of low-income enrollees. It was after that the insurance companies pulled out of low-income areas in droves. I would call that sabotage.
Rep Shuster also repeatedly states no one will be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions. He states large amounts of money to be allocated to the states to cover these high risk groups. What happens if a state uses it’s allotment? What happens in states that opt out of certain plans or sets caps on the amount of coverage?
He may want us to believe this is an improvement on ACA, but I for one do not believe him.
