The guy in office is simply a fraudster

2 min read

Growing up, my father often told me the story of the fishermen. It was a story about how we associate ourselves with groups of people who tend to be just like us. If we hang out with people who fish, we are probably a fisherman. We talk fishing, go fishing and enjoy fishing. If we hang out with drinkers, we probably drink and enjoy drinking. He would go on to say that if we hung around with folks who did illegal activities, we would end up doing likewise. So pick your friends and business associates carefully was his message. For the most part, I followed his advice and I could always hear the fishermen story in my mind when my thoughts would want me to stray.

Like many, I am saddened by our society, the bickering, the corruption, dishonesty and the hatred of the other. The intolerance of those who are different is dividing our country. In a time when we need leadership, we get more corruption and the unwillingness to find solutions. What happened to my Republican party and my fathers’ Democratic party? Dad was a steel worker, so he was a union man and a Democratic. Today, it seems it’s only about getting reelected and not the issues of the people.

We thought our current leader would bring some answers, but it turns out he associates with many who have done illegal deals and perpetuated the policies of corruption. Some 21 of his “fishermen” have been indicted and 7 or 8 are in jail. We should all be shocked that the “dealmaker” has been involved in over 4,000 lawsuits as well as many bankruptcies which have hurt many small business owners who simply did not get paid for their services. Many deals involved buying companies and scouring out all the cash and then going bankrupt. Tax losses of perhaps a billion and we the tax payer are left to pay for this nonsense. This is not business as most of us know it. As a businessman, the fishermen I did business with all paid their bills as did I and we paid our fair share of taxes and even gave some to help others. That’s what business people do. This guy is no businessman or fisherman; simply put he is a fraudster.
