LETTER: Short-term memory

1 min read

In his first term, President Trump negotiated and implemented a trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, saying it was the best agreement we’ve ever made. A few days ago, he was asked about the status of the tariffs against those two countries. He said they’re going forward on schedule and then blamed the bad trade the U.S. has with these countries on “our leadership for letting it happen.”

He also said he wouldn’t blame Mexico and Canada for having taken advantage of us through these agreements, and then questioned, “Who would ever sign these things?” He did.

We should all remember this as his tariffs take effect and the cost of everything goes up.
