Undertaker-Cena match might not happen
‘Taker vs. Cena off?
Is the biggest dream match that the WWE has left to offer off the table for this yearĢƵ WrestleMania?
For months, there has been speculation that the Undertaker and John Cena would face off at Mania 33, but it may not happen after all.
The match was originally penciled in for Mania 32, but Cena was not cleared to wrestle after having shoulder surgery.
If the match does not take place, who will they each face at Mania?
A much better blueprint will be laid out for fans come the Royal Rumble, so everyone will have a better idea in two weeks.
If Cena wins the WWE title from AJ Styles at the Rumble, then he may face the winner of the Rumble.
With the Undertaker, WWE teased a match against Braun Strowman on Raw during the “Dean ManĢƵ” appearance, and the WWE considered the match a year ago at Mania 32 before Taker reportedly nixed the idea.
Word is that the WWE creative team for both Raw and Smackdown will know the card for Mania within the next few weeks and will have ample time to work towards the event.
LesnarĢƵ schedule
Earlier this week, there was an update on the dates that Brock Lesnar will be appearing on Raw heading into the Fastlane event in March and Mania in April.
One date he is not scheduled for is February 13 in Las Vegas.
Word is that since the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Lesnar for his failed drug test ahead of UFC 200, he will not be allowed to appear.
However, I am awaiting word from someone with knowledge of athletic commission to see if this is the actual reason.
If this situation holds true, it will be the only Raw that Lesnar is not scheduled to appear from this coming Monday through the February 27th edition of Raw.
Update on potential WWE Hall of Fame inductees
Last week, Rick Rude and Diamond Dallas Page were mentioned in this column as rumored candidates for WWE Hall of Fame inductions this year.
More names have been released, but the headliner has not been released.
Other names listed include William Regal, Christian, Mike “Irwin R. Shyster” Rotunda, and the Natural Disasters (Typhoon and Earthquake).
I am surprised that Vader is not in the class as he was recently told that he has less than two years to live due to health issues.
The headliner looks to be either The Rock, The Undertaker, or Goldberg.
Hall tickets on sale date
For those of you headed to Orlando for WrestleMania, tickets for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony will go on sale to the public on Friday, January 27, with a presale beginning two days prior.
Look online earlier that week for passwords to get the tickets that Wednesday.
Mania to NOLA official
As predicted in this column last week, WWE announced that WrestleMania 34 will be in New Orleans.
This will be the second Mania in “The Big Easy” in recent years as Mania XXX was there in 2014.
As part of the selling point made by New Orleans officials was that 2018 is the 300-year anniversary of the city and they want to tie Mania into the year-long celebration.
Considering that Mania XXX generated over $142 million of revenue for the local economy, it makes sense for them to want the “Granddaddy of Them All” back.
It truly is amazing how much money Mania generates every year for the host cities.
Samoa Joe debuting in the Rumble?
The chatter of Samoa Joe entering the Royal Rumble and moving to Raw or Smackdown is getting louder by the day.
Time will tell which show he ends up on, but the apparent move looks eminent.
