Jericho like fine wine

Chris Jericho debuted in the WWE in 1999, and he has come and gone over the years.

While at times it has driven his diehard fans crazy, he has always been able to reinvent himself each time he returned.

He will take on Kevin Owens at WrestleMania in a U.S. title match, and he will once again take a break shortly after Mania.

For my money, JerichoĢƵ current run has been the best of his career, and despite being 46, he is one of the hottest wrestlers in the company today.

In fact, and some diehards may consider this sacrilege, I feel he may be the best Canadian-born professional wrestler in history.

Agree or disagree? Email or tweet me why as I will touch on my reasons next week.

He would be my Raw MVP so far in 2017, and he truly is getting better with age, just like a fine wine.

Reviewing Smackdown in Pittsburgh

Smackdown took place in Pittsburgh Tuesday and while I did not make it due to a prior commitment, several fans shared their thoughts.

Andrea Shoaf, a dear friend from high school, attended the show with her husband, brother, and his kids.

“I liked the show,” she said. “However, I like Raw better.”

The show was good, according to @KcBats_2, and he said you can tell it is Mania season.

“Everything is starting to pan out,” he said via a private message on Twitter. “My boy Seth (Rollins) returned on Raw, and I love the (Randy) Orton and (Bray) Wyatt stuff.

“But I’m not ok with Roman Reigns against The Undertaker in what could be his last match, and I don’t think Goldberg and Brock Lesnar should be the main event.”

Rollins update

Speaking on Rollins, in a Twitter chat, @EKTPhotos said “the whole Rollins injury was a storyline” to get fans thinking he would miss Mania while @cminerd24 agreed.

Rowan back this week?

Eric Rowan has been cleared to return to the ring for a while, and the word is he could be back on TV as early as Raw or Smackdown this week.

Swagger released

As reported two weeks ago, Jack Swagger had asked for his release from WWE and it was only time until he was officially gone.

He was released earlier this week.

Styles to Raw?

With Styles and Shane facing off at Mania, the WWE is missing a chance to have Styles in a well-deserved classic bout, but it shows the lack of depth on Smackdown.

Styles has already feuded with most of the roster, so look for him to move to Raw.

If traded, who could Smackdown get in return?

Roman Reigns? Sami Zayn? Braun Strowman?

Rusev injured

When Rusev lost out of the clear blue to The Big Show at Fastlane, people wondered what was going on.

Well, he went on to have shoulder surgery a few days later and will be out for a few months.

Mania countdown continues

Mania 23 was the first one that I attended live since XV, and the two title matches carried the show.

The Undertaker defeated Batista for the World title and John Cena defeated Shawn Michaels to retain the WWE title.

Mania XXIV featured Ric FlairĢƵ last WWE match as he lost to Michaels, and Taker defeated Edge for the World title in the main event.

In the greatest match I have ever seen, Taker defeated Michaels at Mania 25 to carry an otherwise lame card.

Taker retied Michaels at Mania XXVI in a match that Jim Grosik, a Cal U grad who lives in Phoenix, insists was better than the match the previous year.

I stand by the 25 match, but I am sure the atmosphere was amazing!

Mania XXVII was headlined by Cena challenging The Miz for the WWE title with The Rock as the host, but Taker and Triple H stole the show.

A year later at Mania XXVIII, the two legends once again had the best match with this one taking place inside the Hell in a Cell structure with Michaels as the ref.

In the main event, The Rock defeated Cena.

Mania XXIX was the seventh straight Mania that Taker had the best match as he defeated C.M. Punk to raise his Mania record to 21-0.

Cena defeated The Rock for the WWE title on the card, The Shield debuted, and Triple H defeated Brock Lesnar who made his first Mania appearance in nine years.

RYSE in action Friday night

This Friday, RYSE returns to The Stronghold Arena in Lemont Furnace for its fourth show.

Also, the company announced that the Stronghold Wrestling Academy has opened at Laurel Mall and more information is available at the show.

KSWA show Saturday

The KSWA holds its 10th annual Joe Abbey Memorial Tournament Saturday night at Spirit Hall in Lawrenceville.

Jay Flash faces Shane Starr in one semifinal while Shawn Blanchard takes on a mystery opponent in the other semifinal.

The KSWA will also induct the 2017 class into its Hall of Fame.
