Elimination Chamber airs tonight
Raw returns to PPV tonight with Elimination Chamber.
The actual menĢƵ Chamber match features a record seven wrestlers, up from the normal six that every previous Chamber match had.
The winner heads to WrestleMania to face Brock Lesnar, and look for other Mania matches to be set up coming out of the Chamber.
Roman Reigns is the heavy favorite, but there have been some recent reports that may lead WWE to go in a different direction.
Braun Strowman is the wrestler who I would like to see win it and having him beat Lesnar for the Universal title at Mania would be the perfect way to crown WWEĢƵ new top guy.
John Cena will always be in the mix as long as he is in the match, but all signs are pointing to him and The Undertaker at Mania.
Seth Rollins saw his star rise immensely this past Monday on Raw, and we will get to that in a second, but he would be a solid choice in the Chamber.
The Miz has been WWEĢƵ MVP since the start of 2017, and while I see a Universal or WWE title reign coming soon, I don’t see it at Mania.
Finn Balor was the first-ever Universal champion, but I don’t see WWE going with Balor challenging Lesnar at Mania.
Elias is a rising star, but it is way too early to be considered for a Mania main event match.
In the womenĢƵ Chamber match, Alexa Bliss defends against Bayley, Sasha Banks, Mickie James, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.
Bliss is penciled in to defend the title at Mania, plus having the title change hands doesn’t do the title any favors with Mania right around the corner, so I don’t see a title change here.
Asuka faces Nia Jax with the stipulation that if Jax ends AsukaĢƵ undefeated streak, then Jax will be added to the Raw womenĢƵ title match at Mania.
In the other matches, The Bar is defending the Raw tag titles against Titus O’Neil and Apollo, while Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy square off as well.
Ronda Rousey will “sign” her contract, and look for her Mania match angle to begin tonight or tomorrow on Raw.
Early Match of the Year candidate
If you missed the seven-man gauntlet match on Raw featuring the seven Chamber match participants, make sure you see it.
Seth Rollins lasted 65 minutes and the match, as a whole, lasted over 106 minutes.
Ziggler signs new WWE deal
WWE, which needs talent who can go in the ring, signed Dolph Ziggler to a two-year contract extension.
The deal is reported to be worth $1.5 million per year, up 50 from his $1 million a year salary.
Word is WWE overpaid Ziggler so he did not head to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Mixed Tag Team Challenge continues Tuesday
The first quarterfinal of the WWE Mixed Tag Team Challenge takes place Tuesday with Balor and Banks taking on The Miz and Asuka. The winning team advances to the semifinals.
On this date:
In 1949, Richard Fliehr is born. He is known as Ric Flair.
In 2001, WWE ran No Way Out on PPV with the big match being a three-fall match between Steve Austin and Triple H. Austin won the first fall while Triple H won the second, a Street Fight, and the third, a Steel Cage match.
If you have never seen the 40 minutes between the two men, I suggest you check it out.
This weekĢƵ question:
When will Jeff Hardy be back? Ryan, Connellsville.
Hardy is nearing the end of rehabbing his shoulder injury so he will be back shortly.
