Thoughts on Smackdown’s 1,000th episode
The 1,000th episode of Smackdown aired Tuesday and it was a fun show.
The biggest news coming out of the broadcast was that WWE planted the seed for a Triple H versus Batista match down the road. It has been known for several years now that Batista wants a farewell match against Triple H and has wanted it the last for WrestleMania shows.
The show ran long which led to the last segment, a promo by The Undertaker, being extremely short.
Shane McMahon returned on Smackdown and has a clear bill of health after recent issues. He could have returned a while ago, but he has been held off of TV so that Paige could become more established in her role as the general manager.
Crown Jewel update
The Crown Jewel show on Nov. 2 is still scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.
Last week, we looked at the ramifications if WWE pulled out and also what it would mean to WWE if it still ran the show. It appears the event will still take place in Saudi Arabia, although a contingency plan has been set for a venue in England.
Fox telling WWE what it wants?
An online report Friday said that Fox executives are going to want Smackdown focused more on in-ring action as compared to comedy. Vince McMahon has always been big on comedy, or at least what he finds to be comedy.
Fox is looking for a “sports block” during football season and will want its other sporting events to plug Smackdown.
Rousey to Total Divas?
Due to the series-low ratings that Total Divas is generating, WWE is considering approaching Ronda Rousey on the show. The move would boost numbers, but would it be worth softening the aura around Rousey?

Owens recovering from surgery
Kevin Owens had double knee surgery a few days ago and he will be out of action for several months. He could return as early as January or could be out of action until after WrestleMania.
On This Day …
In 2001, Chris Jericho defeated The Rock to win WWEĢƵ version of the WCW championship. It would begin a memorable run for Jericho, who would win the WWE two months later in a unification bout.
At Vengeance that December, Jericho retained the WCW title against The Rock and then defeated Steve Austin to win the WWE championship.
This weekĢƵ question:
Is it me, or did it not make any sense for Triple H to represent DX one night and then Evolution the next night? Craig, California.
You aren’t the only one who felt that way. It looked kind of silly, but hey, it is furthering the DX storyline now and the eventual match against Batista.
