Bearcats rally for 29-7 win at J-M

Jefferson-Morgan scored the first touchdown early in the first quarter, but Bentworth stormed back for 29 unanswered points Friday night for a 29-7 season-ending victory in Tri-County South Conference action.

The Rockets scored just 70 seconds into the game when Jacob Broadwater hit Justin Maddich for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Maddich added the extra point for the early 7-0 lead.

The Bearcats’ Trent Cavanaugh took control of the game in the first quarter scoring on runs of 7 and 6 yards. He also hit Owen Petrisek on a two-point conversion pass for a 14-7 lead after the first quarter.

Bentworth added to its lead in the second quarter on Cavanaugh’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Bruce Hook. Cavanaugh led all rushers with 166 yards on 31 carries.

Petrisek scored on a 3-yard run and Trevor Richardson hit a 35-yard field goal to cap the scoring in the third quarter. Petrisek gained 69 yards on 15 carries.

Spencer Fereza led the Bearcats defense with 4½ sacks.
