Centurions hold off Monessen, 21-18

Monessen’s second-half rally Friday night fell three points short with the Greyhounds losing on the road at Greensburg Central Catholic, 21-18, in non-conference play.

The Greyhounds’ Jalen Brice opened the scoring on a 3-yard run in the first quarter, but the Centurions scored the next 21 points on touchdown passes of 7, 61 and 23 yards by David Altimore.

Isaiah Beltram pounded in from a yard out in the third quarter to draw Monessen to 21-12 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brice scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter. The Greyhounds failed on one point-after kick and a pair of two-point conversions.
