Leopards cruise past Ringgold, 63-6
Nolan Labuda set the school record for touchdown receptions in a season as Belle Vernon closed the regular season Friday night with a 63-6 non-conference victory over visiting Ringgold.
Labuda caught touchdown passes of 29 and 47 yards from Jared Hartman in the second quarter. He also added a 44-punt return for a touchdown in the quarter. Labuda led the Leopards (8-1) with four receptions for 91 yards.
Belle Vernon led 13-0 after the first quarter and extended its lead to 49-0 at halftime. The Leopards added 14 points in the third quarter.
Devin Whitlock had touchdown runs of 55 and 3 yards, finishing with a team-high 85 yards rushing on six carries.
Hartman added a 7-yard touchdown pass to Dane Anden, and Anden scored on a 7-yard run, as well. Hartman completed 7-of-8 passes for 143 yards.
Larry Callaway scored the first touchdown of the game on an 8-yard run, finishing with 77 yards on six carries.
Jack Bryer closed the scoring for Belle Vernon with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter. Ryan Hamer added 78 yards on the ground on seven carries.
James Minnie’s 60-yard touchdown reception helped the Rams (1-9) avoid the shutout.
