Quips cruise to 60-9 victory over Waynesburg
Aliquippa built a 54-0 halftime lead Friday night and then cruised through the second half for a 60-9 Tri-County West Conference victory over visiting Waynesburg Central.
Isaiah Towler had a solid game for the Quips (1-0, 2-0) with a 28-yard touchdown run and 55-yard interception return. Antonio Quinn had touchdown runs of 80 and 15 yards, and finished with 145 yards rushing on only five carries.
Vernon Redd opened the scoring in the second quarter with an 80-yard punt return. Vaughn Morris had a pair of 25-yard touchdown passes to Chinua Solomon.
Waynesburg (0-1, 1-1) avoided the shutout with nine points in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard field goal by Avery McConville and a 21-yard touchdown pass to McConville from Nate Kirby.
