Vikings win on the road at Hopewell, 48-34
Jake Johnson scored four touchdowns and ran for over 100 yards Friday night as Mount Pleasant returned home from Hopewell with a 48-34 non-conference victory in the battle of Vikings.
Johnson scored on runs of 8, 58 and 20 yards, and had a 26-yard touchdown reception from Asher O’Connor in the first quarter. He carried the ball 13 times for 124 yards.
Teammate Nick Loughner also topped 100 yards rushing with 114 on 17 carries. He scored the first touchdown of the game on a 10-yard run.
Mount Pleasant’s Brady Johnson opened the second half with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Donovan Bair added a rushing touchdown. O’Connor completed 7-of-17 passes for 139 yards.
Hopewell’s Jay’Von Jeter was a one-man wrecking crew with three rushing touchdowns and two passing scores. Jeter completed 14-of-26 passes for 203 yards and three interceptions. He carried the ball 10 times for 203 yards.
