Big second half leads to Raiders’ 37-8 home victory

By The 2 min read

Waynesburg Central broke the non-conference game open with three touchdowns in the third quarter for a 37-8 victory Friday over visiting Ambridge.

The Raiders avenged last year’s 18-0 loss at Ambridge.

Darnell Johnson had a touchdown pass to Avery McConville and then McConville grabbed a scoring pass from Trevor Stephenson.

Stephenson scored the third touchdown of the third quarter on a 15-yard run. Gavin Benson was true on all three extra-points for a 30-8 lead after three quarters.

Richardson capped the scoring five seconds into the fourth quarter with a 55-yard touchdown run.

Deyvon Gill-Martin’s 41-yard touchdown run and conversion run spotted the Bridgers (0-3) an 8-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Raiders (2-1) cut into the deficit in the second quarter with a safety, and then took the lead on Johnson’s 1-yard run and Benson’s point-after.
