Vikings outscore Yough, 55-35
Mount Pleasant scored 41 points in the second half Friday night as the Vikings won a wild offensive contest, 55-35, over visiting Yough in Big East Conference play.
The Vikings (1-0, 2-1) put up 28 points in the third quarter.聽
Jake Johnson scored on a 61-yard pass from Asher O’Connor to start the scoring in the second half. Nick Loughner scored on an 18-yard run, and Aaron Alakson powered in from a yard out. Kenny Biller closed the scoring in the quarter when he covered a blocked punt in the end zone.
Alakson continued the scoring run with a 16-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
C.J. Waldier broke the string with 97-yard touchdown return on the ensuing kickoff. Waldier had an earlier 95-yard kickoff erased by a penalty.
Gamal Marballie had a big game for the Cougars (1-1, 1-2) with touchdown runs of 10 and 13 yards, and touchdown passes of 7 yards to C.J. Waldier and five yards to JJ Waller.
Marballie completed 9-of-23 passes for 148 yards.
The Vikings’ Nick Loughner had touchdown runs of 36 and 18 yards, finishing with 124 yards rushing on seven carries. Johnson also had a rushing touchdown, carrying the ball 11 times for 122 yards. Aaron Alakson scored on runs of 1, 16 and 34 yards, finishing with 111 yards on the ground on 11 carries.
