Deer Lakes edge Vikings, 29-26
Mount Pleasant scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short Friday night for a 29-26 loss in the Big East Conference at Deer Lakes.
The Vikings go to 1-2 in the conference and 2-3 overall. Deer Lakes improves to 3-1 in the conference and 3-2 overall.
Deer Lakes led 15-7 after the first quarter and 22-13 at halftime.
The Vikings’ Jared Yester scored on a 29-yard interception return in the first quarter and Asher O’Conner plunged in from a yard out in the second quarter.
Pete Billey scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter. Jake Johnson scored the lone touchdown of the fourth quarter on a 27-yard run.
Johnson carried the ball 16 times for 125 yards, while Billey finished with 113 yards rushing on 14 carriers.
Deer Lakes’ Aris Hasley completed 19-of-44 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns.
