Today starts what will actually begin one of the most important stretches in pro wrestling history.

While the next 11 days will conclude the stretch, we will focus on an eight-day period starting today and briefly talking about next FridayÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ Smackdown debut on Fox.

Here is the chronological look.

ROH PPV tonight

Ring Of Honor presents Death Before Dishonor tonight on PPV.

Matt Taven will defend the ROH championship against Rush in the main event.

One of the other top matches includes Shane Taylor defending his ROH TV title against Flip Gordon and Tracy Williams.

WWE show on Fox tonight

Also tonight, WWE presents SmackdownÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ Greatest Hits on Fox.

It begins at 8 p.m.

New WWE sets

The word is that WWE will debut new, and unique, entrance sets for both Raw and Smackdown starting Monday.

Smackdown name change

Smackdown will now be called WWE Friday Night Smackdown, but we will continue to refer to it as Smackdown in this column to save on space!

WWE announcing changes

The announce teams for Raw and Smackdown have been revealed.

RawÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ broadcast team will consist of Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin and Jerry Lawler while Michael Cole and Pittsburgh native Corey Graves will handle the Smackdown duties.

Lawler is said to just be a short-term placement.

Hogan, Flair on Raw, Smackdown

WWE has announced that Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair will be guests on MizTV on Raw and then appear on Smackdown.

Anyone else sensing that The Fiend Bray Wyatt will attack either Hogan or Flair on Raw?

NXT on USA extends to two hours

NXT has drawn over one million viewers for each of the first two weeks on the USA Network as it aired from 8-9 p.m.

The second hour, from 9-10 p.m., then aired on the WWE Network.

Starting this Wednesday night, the show will air both hours on the USA Network moving forward in a strategical move.

AEW finally debuting on TNT

WWE moving both hours of NXT to two hours on USA is to counter All Elite WrestlingÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ debut on TNT.

The show, titled Dynamite, will also air from 8-10 p.m.

Dynamite will be rated TV-14.

A replay will air on TNT next Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

AEW to Pittsburgh

Tickets for AEWÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ Pittsburgh debut are still on sale.

The event is a TV taping at the Petersen Events Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on Oct. 23.

Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

WWE Backstage debuts in November

Last week, we looked at a rumored WWE talk show and on Thursday, an official press release was put out.

WWE Backstage will air on FS1 on Thursdays beginning on Nov. 5.

It will be hosted by Renee Young and Booker T.

Young will still contribute on Smackdown.

Morrison headed back to WWE

Former Impact champion John Hennigan is headed back to WWE.

He will return to his John Morrison moniker, and it was under that name that he was an Intercontinental champion, an ECW champion and multi-time tag champ.

Smackdown, Cell previews

Next weekÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ column will focus on the Smackdown debut on Fox and the Hell in a Cell PPV that will air next Sunday.

On This Day…

In 1998, The Undertaker and Kane simultaneously pinned Stone Cold Steve Austin to win the WWF (now the WWE) championship.

The storyline would be played out and lead to the tournament for the vacant WWE championship at Survivor Series that November.
