Yough’s C.J. Waldier opened the Big East Conference game Friday night in grand style by returning the opening kick for a touchdown, but visiting Freeport scored the five touchdowns on their way to a 50-14 road win.

Waldier sprinted 80 yards with the opening kickoff to spot the Cougars (1-4, 1-5) the early lead.

Freeport (2-3, 2-3) then scored 35 unanswered points to take control of the game, including Ben Lane’s 85-yard kickoff return on the opening kickoff of the second half.

Waldier broke the string with a 25-yard touchdown reception from Gamal Marballie late in the third quarter. Marballie completed 17-of-25 passes for 166 yards and gained 70 yards rushing on 23 carries. Waldier caught 12 passes for 146 yards.
