Rosensteel’s FG lifts Rams over Bobcats, 16-13

Clay Rosensteel kicked a 28-yard field goal with no time remaining to lift Ringgold to a 16-13 non-section victory over Beaver on Friday at Joe Montana Stadium.

The Rams (0-3, 1-5) opened the scoring with 10:17 left in the second quarter when James Minnie scored on a six-yard run and Rosensteel added the extra point. Minnie rushed for 60 yards on 20 carries. He also caught three passes for 27 yards.

Marco Mamone cut the deficit for the Bobcats (0-4, 1-5) to one on a 25-yard reception from Tyler Ziggas with 57 seconds left before halftime.

Beaver took a 13-7 lead at 4:42 of the third quarter when Ziggas threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Zach Harris and Mack Boyd made the extra point.

Jake Duncan tied the game for the home team on a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Ringgold’s John Polefko gained 72 yards on 23 carries and Duncan was 4 of 5 for 34 yards.

Polefko had six tackles for the Rams, and teammate Logan Vickers had five, including three for losses. Minnie had four tackles.

Ringgold travels to Laurel Highlands (0-3, 0-6) next week in Big Eight Conference play at 7 p.m.
