Scotties upend Prexies in overtime, 62-58
Riley Comforti poured in a game-high 32 points as Southmoreland knocked off host Washington, 62-58 in overtime, in a Section 4-AAA boys basketball game between two playoff-bound teams Wednesday night.
The loss dropped the Prexies (9-2, 14-6) into second place behind Charleroi. Washington must win at McGuffey on Friday night to earn a share of the section title with the Cougars.
The Prexies trailed the Scotties 45-37 after three quarters before rallying to a 53-53 tie to force OT. Southmoreland (7-4, 10-11) outscored the hosts 9-5 in the extra frame to pull out the win.
Brandon Peterson and Zach Cernuto tallied 12 and 10 points for the Scotties.
Tayshawn Levy (18) and Ian Bredniak (14) were Washington’s top scorers.
