Lady Vikings shut out Yough, 5-0
GiGi Stanek threw a two-hitter and Dani Trainer drove in two runs to lead Mount Pleasant to a 5-0 Section 3-AAA victory Thursday afternoon over visiting Yough.
Stanek struck out seven and walked two in the victory.
Mount Pleasant (4-4, 9-6) scored all of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Trainer drove home two runs, and Kendall Waters, Madyson Hart and Gracie Etling all had one RBI.
Payton Jenkins and Kylee Odelli each had a single for the lone hits off Stanek. Kylee Fisher took the loss, striking out one and walking one.
Chartiers-Houston 14, West Greene 4 – Meadow Ferri struck out 18 and Ella Richey belted two home runs in the Lady Bucs’ Section 2-A home win.
Kendra Tharp doubled and had an RBI for the Lady Pioneers (6-3, 7-5). West Greene scored single runs in the top of the first and sixth innings, and two in the fourth inning.
Richey hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and a solo shot in the sixth inning. Lauren Rush hit a solo home run in the first inning.
Chartiers-Houston invoked the mercy rule with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game ended on Zaylee Fonner’s 3-run home run. Ferri and Seanna Riggle both drove in two runs.
Jefferson-Morgan 11, Mapletown 1 – The Lady Rockets scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule for a Section 2-A home win.
Winning pitcher Kallyn Novak allowed two hits, struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Emilee Bazzoli smacked a home run and Kayla Larkin doubled.
Beth-Center 14, Avella 5 – Keira Lamp was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in the Lady Bulldogs’ non-section win.
Kendall Welsh belted a home run for Beth-Center (4-4).
