Lady Raiders rally for 4-3 road victory

The Uniontown girls rallied for a 4-3 road victory, despite being held without a hit, at Greensburg Salem Friday afternoon in Section 2-AAAA action.

The Lady Raiders scored first in the top of the second inning, but Greensburg Salem responded with Gionna Ruffner’s solo home run in the bottom of the inning.

Uniontown regained the lead in the third inning when Lauren White was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Uniontown led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Greensburg Salem tied the game with a pair of unearned runs.

Emmaleigh Noah struck out 10 and walked one in the victory. Losing pitcher Alle Scarpa also struck out 10.

Carmichaels 7, Avella 2 – The Lady Mikes scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a Section 2-A home victory.

Sydney Miller allowed six hits, walked one and struck out seven for the win.

Carys McConnell led the Lady Mikes with a home run, single and four RBI. Kaitlyn Waggett finished with a double, single and two runs scored. Payton Plavi contributed two hits.

Frazier 11, St. Joseph 1 – The Lady Commodores rolled to a Section 3-A home victory in five innings over the Lady Spartans.

Addison Hiles allowed four hits, walked two and struck out six in the win. She also had a triple, two singles, three RBI and two runs scored.

Frazier’s Emilia Bednar belted a home run. Grace Vaughn finished with two triples, a single, three RBI and two runs scored. Claire Domonkos had a double and two singles.

Connellsville 2, Bethel Park 0 – The Lady Falcons retained a share of first place in Section 4-AAAAA with a victory over visiting Bethel Park.

Connellsville improves to 6-3 in the section and 10-5 overall.

Iris Burd held Bethel Park to three hits and had five strikeouts.

Cali Leichliter drove in the first run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a single. Leichliter, who moved the second on the throw to the plate, scored the second run of the inning on Tagan Basinger’s single. Basinger was thrown out at second, but Leichliter scored before the out was recorded.

Southmoreland 10, South Allegheny 0 – The Lady Scots pounded out 13 hits for a Section 3-AAA victory over visiting South Allegheny.

Southmoreland improves to 5-2 in the section and 11-2 overall.

The Lady Scots scored five runs, three coming home on Gwen Basinger’s home run, in the top of the first inning for the early lead.

Riley Puckey belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. Taylor Doppelheuer contributed a double, triple and three RBI. Makayla Etling went 4-for-4 with three doubles and a single, plus she drove in a run. Brooke McBeth added two singles.

Winning pitcher Maddie Brown struck out nine and walked one.

South Allegheny’s Morgan Mosquedo hit a solo home run. Cadence McBride and Gina Connors both doubled for the visitors.
