Cougars fall on the road in Section 8-AA opener

Charleroi’s Jake Corrin fired a 39, but Shady Side Academy was too tough at home on Fox Chapel Country Club Tuesday afternoon for a 192-211 victory over the Cougars in the Section 8-AA opener.

Levi Large and Jackson Keranko both finished with 42 for Charleroi (0-1, 0-1). Gage Patterson shot 43. Kaden Woods and Ethan Hartley both carded 45.

Shady Side Academy’s Landon Mauser shot 37 for medalist honors. Ryan Frohlich (39), Alex Avi (38), and Kabir Chaudry (38) all broke 40, and Jay Monn closed the scoring with 40.

Girls golf

Norwin 206, Connellsville 233 – The Lady Knights returned home from Pleasant Valley Golf Club with a Section 3-AAA victory against the Lady Falcons.

Rylee Leasher was the low golfer for Connellsville (0-2, 0-2) with 50. Abigail Humbert and Katy Atz both shot 60, and Isabella Nussbaumer rounded out the scoring with 63.

Norwin’s Lena Robb shot 44 for medalist honors. Mia Ratesic (52), Emily Petrulak (53), and Addy Speghar (57) also counted in the final score.

Mount Pleasant 192, Belle Vernon 203 – The Lady Vikings were victorious on the road with a Section 1-AA win at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Mount Pleasant’s Brynlee Baluh was medalist with 42. Kaylie Korpiel (45), Morgan Miller (47), and Victoria Tepper (58) also counted in the final score. Ally Christner’s 60 was not used.

Vitty Scaramucci was the low golfer for the Lady Leopards with 46. Felicia Kruppa (48), Ava Dudzinski (55), and Sydney Stark (54) rounded out the scoring. Jessa Haney’s 67 did not count.
