KalichÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ 36 leads Mustangs past visiting Tigers
Jacob Kalich fired an even-par 36 to lead Laurel Highlands to a 206-221 victory Thursday afternoon over visiting McKeesport in a Section 2-AAA match at Uniontown Country Club.
Tyler Cook shot 38 for the Mustangs (3-3, 3-4). Kayden Smith finished with 42. Nico Harim and Kobe Keffter both carded 45. Ryan Revak’s 53 was not used.
Mason Michaels was the low man for the Tigers (1-5, 4-6) with 41. Brock Stevenson (42), Caleb Smith (44), Jaydem Cottom (48), and Ayden Lipchey (46) also counted in the final score.
Belle Vernon 180, Ringgold 238 – The Leopards counted five scores under 40 for a convincing Section 2-AAA win over the visiting Rams at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Seth Tomalski secured medalist honors for Belle Vernon with 34. Jordan Mocello and Donny Croftcheck both shot 35. Landon Vaccaro finished with 37, and Jack Edwards closed the scoring with 39. Evan Mesco’s 45 was not used.
Brice Kowall led Ringgold with 42. Evan Callaway (46), Evan Anderson (44), Trevor Benson (46), and Brandon Nguyen (60) rounded out the scoring.
Uniontown 210, Albert Gallatin 234 – The Red Raiders’ Trevor Uphold and Austin Thomas shared medalist honors in a Section 2-AAA road victory at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
Uphold and Thomas both shot 39 for Uniontown (5-2, 7-2). Colton Mathias finished with 42. Eli Friend shot 44. Elim Martin and Emily Myers both finished with 46.
Caeden Williams led the way for the Colonials (2-5, 3-5) with 41. Hayden Metts (50), Geno Valenti (43), Tyler Felio (45), and Paityn Stout (55) also counted in the final score. James Williams’ 56 did not count.
Jefferson-Morgan 204, Brownsville 279 — Urijah Teasdale fired 3-under 34 to lead Jefferson-Morgan to a road victory over Brownsville in a Section 3-AA match at Carmichaels Golf Club.
Teasdale carded three birdies in his medalist round.
Clay Wilson finished with 2-over 39 for Jefferson-Morgan (5-3, 6-5). Brayden Ellsworth (42), Dayten Marion (44), and Brendan Wood (45) also counted in the final score. Jack Shaffer’s 48 was not used.
Dominic Capan was the low man for the Falcons (0-6, 0-6) with 49. Camden Kline (51), Ava Rohland (52), Tyler Glumac (63), and Kaitlyn Ranka (64) closed out the scoring rounds.
Girls golf
Penn-Trafford 200, Connellsville 227 – The Connellsville girls dropped Section 3-AAA home match at Pleasant Valley Golf Club.
Isabella Nussbaumer was the low golfer for the Lady Falcons with 54. Rylee Leasher shot 56, Katie Atz carded 57, and Abigail Humbert finished with 60.
Penn-Trafford’s Adayan Hawk was medalist with 49.
Belle Vernon 178, Southmoreland 217 – Vittoria Scaramucci carded the low round of 38 to lead the Lady Leopards to a Section 1-AA home victory at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Felicia Kruppa shot 39 for Belle Vernon (1-3, 1-5). Sydney Stark (47) and Hailey Farrah (54) closed the scoring.
Kendall Campbell was the low golfer for the Lady Scots with 47. Rachael Ayres (57), Zoey Provlic (57), and Belle Lint (56) also counted in the final score.
Mount Pleasant 204, Derry 246 – The Lady Vikings’ Kaylee Korpiel had the low round with a 47 at Norvelt Golf Club for a Section 1-AA home victory.
Morgan Miller (50), Brynlee Baluh (52), and Ally Christner (55) closed out the scoring for Mount Pleasant (4-2, 4-2).
Alexa Kahl was the low golfer for the Lady Trojans with 58.
Girls volleyball
Bentworth 3, Steel Valley 0 – The Lady Bearcats swept past visiting Steel Valley for a non-section home win.
Bentworth won by the scores, 28-26, 25-19, 26-24.
The Lady Bearcats’ Olivia Telegraphis finished with a team-high 27 digs. Zoie McDonald dished out 20 assists. Chelsea Dindal had 10 kills and Sofia Gaussa served six aces.
Moon 3, Ringgold 0 – The Lady Rams dropped a non-section match to Moon.
The Lady Tigers won by the scores, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22.
Boys soccer
Bentworth 7, Serra Catholic 1 – The Bearcats led 7-0 at halftime for a non-section home win.
Adam Moessner and Ryan Moessner both scored two goals for Bentworth (3-0). Austin Hollier, Aiden McMurray, and Dillan Colbert all netted one goal apiece.
Andrew Vipperman assisted on three goals and McMurray finished with two assists.
Ringgold 1, Laurel Highlands 0 – Jack Brodak scored three minutes into the Section 2-AAA home match and keeper Donovan Fortuna made the goal stand for a home victory.
The Rams improve to 2-0 in the section and 3-0 overall.
Mount Pleasant 5, Derry 0 – Aiden Johnson scored four goals in the Vikings’ Section 4-AA victory over the Trojans.
Aydan Gross scored a goal and assisted on one of Johnson’s scores. Grayson Gardner had the shutout in the net.
