HealyÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ single lifts Oakland to 2-1 win in 10 innings
Seth Healy drove in the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Oakland (Md.) to a 2-1 victory in the opening game of a Fayette County Baseball League doubleheader Sunday afternoon over visiting Pechin.
Gabe Ross opened the winning rally with a single and stole second. He advanced to third when Levi Carrington was safe on a dropped third strike. Alex Beiler grounded out with Carrington advancing to second base.
Healy then drove in the winning run on an 0-1 pitch.
Alex Kennell spotted the Oaks (10-6) with the lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double. He added a single for a two-hit game.
Carson D’Amico’s run-scoring ground out tied the game in the top of the fourth inning.
Andrew Catone pitched the final 2.2 innings for the win. He didn’t allow a run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
Alex McClain took the loss, allowing a run on two hits with one strikeout. Lorenzo Glasser pitched nine innings with one run on two hits, three walks and 10 strikeouts.
Braeden McKnight (two singles) and Remington Lessman (single, double) combined for four of Pechin’s five hits.
Oakland (Md.) 8, Pechin 0 — Oakland (Md.) pulled away with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to complete a Fayette County Baseball League doubleheader sweep with a win over visiting Pechin.
Ty Wickline went the distance for the win. He allowed singles to Braeden McKnight and Carson D’Amico, walked three and struck out two.
Lane Ours led the Oaks (11-6) with two hits and three RBI. Levi Carrington finished with a single and RBI, and Alex Beiler had two hits and scored two runs.
Pechin slips to 5-9.
M&R Transit 5, Sewickley Twp. 2 – M&R Transit rallied from a 2-0 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for a Fayette County Baseball League home victory.
Santino Marra’s two-run single tied the game and Andino Vecchiolla’s triple brought home the game-winning run. Braeden O’Brien’s sacrifice fly added an insurance run.
O’Brien came on in relief of Marra with two outs in the top of the sixth inning for the win. Vecchiolla earned the save by picking up the final out.
Garrett Myers and Nate Zimcosky doubled for M&R Transit (10-4). Chase Sankovich and Zimcosky both finished with two hits.
Aidan Werner drove in the visitors’ first run in the second inning on a ground out. Steve Manon had an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning.
James Showman took the loss for Sewickley Twp. (2-13).
