Mill Run clinches FCBL playoff berth with 5-0 victory

Mill Run’s 5-0 victory at Sewickley Twp. on Tuesday, coupled with Pechin’s loss, secured a Fayette County Baseball League playoff berth for Mill Run.

Mill Run improved to 9-6 with three games remaining, while Pechin slipped to 5-10 with a 7-4 loss to WBAC.

Alan VanSickle started and pitched five innings to earn the win. The left-hander allowed one hit, walked two and struck out three.

Beau Bigam worked the final two innings for the save. He allowed one hit, didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

Mill Run had six hits and received 11 walks.

Luke Warrick drove in two runs for Mill Run. Logan Kemp, Bigam and Jonathan Kelly all finished with two hits.

Christian Park and Milan Aujuy both had a single for Sewickley Twp. (2-14).

WBAC 7, Pechin 4 – WBAC put the Fayette County Baseball League home game away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Donovan von Fradenburgh earned the win and also contributed a two-run triple.

Ryan Hamer had a pair of doubles and scored two runs for WBAC (4-10-1). Colby Simmons and Trevor Stewart also doubled. Dylan Brosky finished with a double and triple.

Braeden McKnight and Carson D’Amico both had two singles for Pechin.

M&R Transit 4, Carmichaels 1 – M&R Transit pulled to within a half-game of the Copperheads with a home victory.

The start of the game was delayed by 45 minutes due to the completion of the Fayette County American Legion Baseball League playoff game.

Carmichaels remains in first place with a 10-2-1 record. M&R Transit goes to 11-4.

M&R Transit scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Ryan Covelens was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the first run. Braeden O’Brien’s ground out made it 2-0. Caleb Yanosky’s two-out single brought home two runs.

Jimmy Sadler’s double top of the sixth inning plated the Copperheads’ run.

Justin Brestensky earned the win after allowing one earned run on two hits with no walks and five strikeouts in six innings. Andino Vecchiolla pitched a scoreless seventh inning with no hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Brestensky, Louden Conte, Vecchiolla, Chad Petrus, O’Brien and Yanosky all had one hit for M&R Transit.

Sadler and Nick Pegg had Carmichaels’ hits.
