Copperheads rally in 7th to force 3-3 tie
Carmichaels rallied to tie the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday night and neither team scored in extra innings with the Fayette County Baseball League game called due to darkness with a 3-3 score after nine innings.
Jimmy Sadler reached second on a two-base error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. He scored the game-tying run on Tyler Richmond’s single.
WBAC had a chance to take the lead in the top of the eight innings with runners on first and second with two outs, but Forrest Havanis stranded both runners.
The Copperheads (0-0-1) scored the first run in the bottom of the second inning when Gianni Cantini scored on a passed ball.
WBAC (0-2-1) responded with three runs in the top of the third inning.
Colby Simmons was safe on a two-base error to lead off the inning. Colton Brightwell singled him to third. Brody Bagwell walked to load the bases.
Anthony Dellapenna followed with a two-run single. Bagwell then scored on a ground out.
Carmichaels came back with one run in the bottom of the inning.
Richmond led off with a walk and stole second. He moved to third on a ground out and scored on AJ Vanata’s sacrifice fly.
Drake Long started for the Copperheads and lasted two innings. He allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits with one walk and no strikeouts. Cantini pitched the next four innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two walks and four strikeouts. Havanis pitched the final three scoreless innings, giving up two hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
Josiah Fisher started for WBAC and allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit with six walks and three strikeouts in three innings. Dom von Fradenburgh pitched the final six innings with one unearned run on two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
