M&R Transit rallies in 8th inning for 4-3 win
Santino Marra’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Kaleb Scott to lift M&R Transit to a 4-3 victory over Pechin in Fayette County Baseball League action.
Scott started the game-winning rally with a single. Garrett Myers walked and advanced on stolen bases. Justin Brestensky walked to load the bases to set up Marra.
Carson D’Amico spotted Pechin (2-3) the lead with an RBI single in the top of the first inning.
Tristan McCoy’s run-scoring single gave Pechin a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
M&R Transit (3-3) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on Myers’ RBI single and Brestensky’s run-scoring double.
Pechin regained the lead with an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning.
Marra’s sacrifice fly tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Andino Vecchiolla earned the win after pitching two hitless, scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Brestensky started and pitched six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.
Ashton Ray took the loss for Pechin. Lorenzo Glasser allowed two unearned runs on five hits with no walks and nine strikeouts. Noah Matthews pitched the next three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Carmichaels 5, Mill Run 0 – Ethan Erhard held Mill Run scoreless on five hits as the Copperheads won a Fayette County Baseball League home game.
Carmichaels (4-0-1) pulled away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Noah Mildren plated the final two runs of the rally with a home run. AJ Vanata drove in a run with a single and Jimmy Sadler had a sacrifice fly.
The Copperheads scored a single run in the bottom of the first inning on Forrest Havanis’ ground out.
Kole Kuntz went the distance in the loss for Mill Run (4-2). Beau Bigam had a pair of singles.
Fayette American Legion
Belle Vernon 12, Connellsville 7 – Belle Vernon pulled into the lead in the bottom of the third inning and added four insurance runs in the fourth inning to win the opening game of a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League doubleheader.
AJ Grese’s RBI single broke the tie in the bottom of the third inning.
Jake Lee spotted Connellsville a 1-0 lead with a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning.
Belle Vernon took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on Jaxson Bozek’s sacrifice bunt and Alex Nash’s two-run double. Connellsville tied the game in the top of the third inning on Lee’s RBI single and an error.
Connellsville cut the deficit to 10-7 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Belle Vernon countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Grease drove in three runs with a single and double in the victory. Kayden Faychak finished with a triple and single.
Nash earned the win after allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits with a strikeout.
Ethan Porreca took the loss. Lee and Piasecki both had two hits for Connellsville.
Belle Vernon 7, Connellsville 2 – Belle Vernon completed the doubleheader sweep by scoring four insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Belle Vernon took the early lead with three runs in the top of the second inning. Bozek’s sacrifice bunt, a run-scoring single from Colton Lee and a fielder’s choice accounted for the runs.
Connellsville scored single runs in the bottom of the third and fifth innings.
Zach Bird started and pitched four innings for the win. He allowed one unearned run on three hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. AJ Wardropper pitched the final three innings for the save, allowing one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts.
Colton Lee drove in three runs with a double and single in the victory. Cole Matusik finished with a single and triple. Grease tripled.
Mason Miller went the distance in the loss. Grayden Gillott had two hits, Jake Lee tripled and Chase Sankovich drove in a run.
Colonial 3 2, Waynesburg 1 – Ben Vojacek scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk to Hunter Pelehac in the bottom of the eighth inning for a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League home victory.
Dalian McManus scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh on Tyler Monack’s ground out.
Brody Ross’ single gave Waynesburg a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Aiden Hardy pitched the final two innings to earn the win. Pelehac allowed one run on five hits in six innings with two walks and 12 strikeouts.
Tyler Groves started for Waynesburg, allowing one run on one hit in 6.1 innings with four walks and 12 strikeouts.
Uniontown 2, Charleroi 0 – Tate Musko tossed a one-hitter and the home team scored single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings for a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League victory over Charleroi at Bailey Park.
Musko struck out 15 and walked four, and allowed just a single to Danny Verscharen.
Eanh Stephenson doubled for Uniontown. Ethan Koffler drove in a run for Uniontown.
Jake Beveridge took the loss. He allowed two earned runs on three hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts.
