Brestensky throws no-hitter in M&R TransitÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ 4-0 win
Justin Brestensky held WBAC hitless Thursday night in M&R Transit’s 4-0 victory over WBAC in Fayette County Baseball League action.
M&R Transit improves to 1-1, while the loss was the season opener for WBAC.
Brestensky walked two and the defense committed one error to account for the visitors’ runners. The left-hander struck out eight.
The game was scoreless through five innings when the home team finally broke through with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Travis Sankovich opened the inning with a walk off Matt Bamford and moved to third on Santino Marra’s double. Chad Petrush’s sacrifice fly brought home the first run of the inning. Andino Vecchiolla’s double plated Marra.
Jace Cappellini’s single sent Vecchiolla home. Cappellini eventually scored on a passed ball.
Pechin 13, Sewickley Twp. 4 – Pechin improved to 2-0 in the Fayette County Baseball League with a road victory over the other new team in the league.
Sewickley Twp. grabbed a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The first run scored on a bases-loaded balk. Dom Koch’s single plated the next two runs. Gavin Roebuck capped the rally with a run-scoring double.
Pechin responded with the game-winning rally in the top of the third inning.
Ben Diamond made the score 4-2 with an RBI single. Remington Lessman’s single cut the deficit to one run. Tristan McCoy tied the game with a bases-loaded walk.
The go-ahead run scored on a passed ball and Ashton Ray added two more runs with a double.
Pechin added a single run in the top of the fourth inning and four more in the seventh.
Paxton Patronas earned the win in relief of Lessman.
Diamond, McClain, Lessman and Ray all drove in two runs. Diamond, Noah Matthews and McClain had two hits.
Gavin Roebuck led Sewickley Twp. (0-1) with a double, two singles and an RBI. Koch drove in two runs and Vinny DeVone had two hits.
