BonariÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ goal lifts Ringgold to 4-3 overtime win

Anthony Bonari’s power play goal just 21 seconds into overtime lifted Ringgold to a 4-3 victory over visiting Trinity on Thursday in a PIHL D2 Division game.

Brady Lippert assisted on the goal.

Caden Doran scored a power play goal at 6:25 and Bonito Pesi netted the tying goal with 4:59 remaining in the game for Ringgold (2-1-1-0).

Doran spotted the Rams the lead with a power play goal at 11:58 in the first period.

Ringgold’s Braidee Blackburn stopped 17 shots in the victory. Cydney Mathers made 36 saves for the Highlanders (1-4-0-1).

Burrell 3, Elizabeth Forward 2 – The Warriors cut the deficit to a goal in the second period, but were unable to net the tying goal in the third period in a PIHL D2 Division home loss.

Burrell (4-0-0-0) led 2-0 after the first period and extended its lead to 3-0 midway through the second period.

Bobby Boord Jr. scored two goals, including a power play goal, less than two minutes apart for Elizabeth Forward (3-2-1-0) to cut into the Bucs’ lead.

The Warriors’ Andrew Costello made 41 saves. Burrell’s Kooper Price stopped 20 shots.

Girls volleyball

Neshannock 3, Southmoreland 0 – The second seed swept by the Lady Scots for a victory in the Class AA consolation final. Neshannock won by the scores, 25-7, 25-20, 25-16.

Neshannock improves to 16-2 overall, while Southmoreland goes to 16-5.
